SEEING A NEED IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

A couple of kids in Greenpoint Brooklyn took it to heart that there was a lot of trash on the streets - Their wisdom and earnest concern for the impact on the animals of land and sea inspired us to do something about it!

Walk for Wildlife #3! Bird Rock Point, TCI We are trying to raise 1K for WWF @world_wildlife by Earth Day! PLEASE Donate to the fundraiser link in our bio! We saw mangroves, birds & snails! Learned some new plant names and saw some beautiful turquoise blue ocean! It may be spring break but we haven’t forgotten our goal! #earthday #earthishome #goodwork

Who could have imagined all the inspiration & reflection to be found on a narrow nature strip along an industrial waterway! We traced the shape of the creek as the Lenape would have seen it, carved into a table of stone. We learned about uses of native plant species and heard & saw birds overhead as we studied maps of the later industries that lined the creek in American boomtime. We saw DEC vessels, doing the work of remediation still, and did our small part by picking up any trash we came across along the way! #walkforwildlife @world_wildlife If you haven’t, please donate to our fundraiser!

Inwood Hills Park- The last original stand of forest in Manhattan, and the site of the purchase of the land from Native American peoples who encountered the Dutch! The boys observed wildlife & learned important cultural history! Rock-climbed and explored ancient caves! Join us for the next one!!
